Product Overview

The ABB SPBRC100 is a rack-mounted bridge controller identified in the hardware documentation as the BRC-100. It collects process I/O data, executes control algorithms and sends calculated control signals to process-level devices within a Symphony Harmony control architecture. SPBRC100 can communicate with Harmony block I/O through Hnet while supporting Harmony rack I/O through the I/O expander bus. Both I/O paths can operate simultaneously, allowing one controller to coordinate different generations and formats of process I/O within the same control unit. The controller uses a 32-bit, 32 MHz processor together with SRAM, NVRAM and flash ROM. Control strategies and application files are retained in nonvolatile memory when system power is removed. It also supports redundant controller arrangements, serial device communication and multiple control-programming methods.
